    Where is Ann Robinson?

Ann Robinson is an IBEW Local 77 member, has an MBA in Engineering Technology, a B.S. in Computer Science/Networking, and is currently in a PhD program.

Ann is a member of our new IT group and on the small negotiating team for their first contract.  A couple weeks ago, Department of Neighborhoods (DON) relocated from the Seattle Municipal Tower to City Hall.  This wasn't disclosed to the Union.  While our members were over at the new space hooking up phone and computer lines they were told that Ann's location had changed.  They had moved Ann to an aisle way with a table.  Ann was called and told to come over and see her new location.  Upon arrival she was very disappointed in the location and lack of a real work space.  She had to beg and borrow a 6-foot folding table, two-drawer file cabinet, without a lock, and a chair.  The only piece of furniture for her was the table with her computer and phone on it.  Local 77 tried to work with the DON to solve the problem.  DON had three empty cubicles that Ann could have moved into.  We were getting nowhere on this issue.  Business Manager Lou Walter spoke with both David Bracilano and Susan Coskey about the situation.  Still not much happened until Local 77 told the City they would be picketing City Hall on Friday morning.  Picket signs were produced, however, they were never needed as the City has agreed to move Ann into a cubicle.

    Member-to-Member Training - February 16, 2016

Fourteen members attended the training with Tracy Prezeau.  During the training we brainstormed on ideas on how to show the City that we want progress with our first negotiated contract.  One of the strategies we’re implementing is wearing red on Mondays and IBEW77 lanyards daily.  In one week, we’ve given out nearly 300 lanyards.  You can see by the photos below, we are experiencing success.

City of Seattle IT Dept. workers filed with the Public Employees Relations Commission and are now officially petitioned as IBEW Local 77!

    They are still collecting cards.

Local 77 thanks this group for their hard work and dedication. There is more to come, but this was an exciting and important milestone!
